The Decades
For more than 150 years, Catholic education in Columbia, SC, has grown and evolved, always rooted in the mission of providing a Christ-centered education. From the founding of Ursuline Academy in 1858 to Ursuline High, Catholic High, and today’s Cardinal Newman School, generations of students have embraced truth, pursued academic excellence, and lived lives of faith and service.
Our school has changed locations over the years—from downtown Columbia to Forest Drive in 1961 and Alpine Road in 2016—but our commitment to forming young men and women in mind, body, and spirit has never wavered. As we celebrate this rich history, we invite alumni, parents, and friends from every era—Ursuline High, Catholic High, and Cardinal Newman—to share their memories through the Decades project.
Your stories are an essential part of our legacy. Help us honor and preserve the history of Catholic education in Columbia by sharing your experiences below.
