The Parker DuBois Memorial Scholarship
This award is dedicated to Parker DuBois, a 2016 Cardinal Newman graduate, who tragically lost his life to suicide in 2021. Parker was kind, hilarious, athletic, caring, loving, compassionate, and had room in his heart for everyone. He was the class-clown, superstar athlete, and the guy everyone wanted to be around. He had an infectious smile and loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was larger than life, and a true light in this world.
It’s hard to imagine that someone so talented and loved by so many people could go through the struggles that Parker did. He battled with mental illness and substance abuse. A battle too many people are familiar with. A battle that often makes you feel alone. We don’t want anyone else to struggle or feel alone. It’s okay to need help, and we want everyone to know there IS help. So many people loved Parker, but mental illness can impact anyone.
In honor of Parker, this $2,500 scholarship is awarded to one graduating high school senior who is interested in helping others who have been impacted by mental health challenges.
