THE “SPIRIT OF CARDINAL NEWMAN” AWARD
The Cardinal Newman School crest is ever present in our school. It is visible to students, faculty, staff and friends, as they experience life at Cardinal Newman School. This school symbol greets everyone daily in the rotunda and in our formal publications and letters.
Inscribed in our crest are the three Latin words: VERITAS, INTEGRITAS, FIDELITAS which mean TRUTH, INTEGRITY, FIDELITY. Above these virtues is the Latin phrase COR AD COR LOQUITUR which means Heart Speaks to Heart; this was St. John Henry Newman’s motto.
Together, these three virtues embody the ultimate goal of Cardinal Newman School, as well as the spirit of St. John Henry Newman: “that students will become self-disciplined learners who also demonstrate respect, integrity, responsibility and a sense of social justice as they prepare to live lives of truth, integrity and fidelity.”
