Mr. David Cochrane
Welcome to Mr. David Cochrane's homepage! Mr. Cochrane is excited for another year of making music and digging into musical concepts with the wonderful students at CN! 

Mr. Cochrane received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Russian from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.  During his junior year he studied in Moscow, Russia where he became a student of the Moscow State Conservatory and studied choral conducting under the well-known Russian conductor Alexander Solovyev. Mr. Cochrane moved to Columbia, SC in the fall of 2014 and completed a Master’s Degree in conducting from USC under Dr. Larry Wyatt and Dr. Alicia Walker. Currently, Mr. Cochrane serves as the Director of Music at St. John Neumann Church, Cardinal Newman School, and is the Guest Artistic Director of Ex Oriente Lux, a professional chamber choir in Moscow, Russia. He has performed throughout the United States, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and also in Russia where he returns frequently to conduct. 

Cardinal Newman Music Goals

As the Director of Music at Cardinal Newman, Mr. Cochrane oversees all musical development of CN students and ensembles. Mr. Cochrane's main goals are that each student enrolled in a music class has the opportunity to receive a comprehensive music education during their time at Cardinal Newman.
