Coach Scott Nelson
Welcome to my webpage!

I am excited to be part of the Cardinal Newman faculty and coaching staff!

I grew up in Waco, Texas and attended St. Louis Elementary and Reicher Catholic High School. I graduated from Texas A&M University and taught and coached for seven years, mostly in the Houston area. In 1995, I left teaching and entered law school. I practiced law in Houston for nine years, but upon moving to Columbia in 2007, I resumed my teaching and coaching career. I taught English and coached football and basketball at Richland Northeast high school from 2007-2015. I have taught at Cardinal Newman since 2015, and I will coach the B Team Girls Basketball and the Middle School and High School Mock Trial teams as well. My wife Eboni is an associate dean at the University of South Carolina School of Law, and we have one daughter, Ella Joy, who is a student at Cardinal Newman.
