Endowed Scholarship: The Mahoney Family Memorial Scholarship

Provided by the Mahoney Family and established in 2020, the Mahoney Family Scholarship is the newest endowed scholarship fund at Cardinal Newman School.  The initial fund began as a tribute to Andrew Mahoney, CN Class of 1993. The oldest of three children, Andrew was a member of the Math Club, National Honor Society, and the football and baseball teams.  After graduating from Cardinal Newman, Andrew attended the University of South Carolina where he earned a BA in Mechanical Engineering.  Andrew passed away suddenly in January 2020 at the age of 45 years.

The Mahoney Family Scholarship honors the memories of Andrew's parents (Christine Mahoney and Donald Mahoney) as well as Andrew Mahoney - all of whom were committed to Catholic education, Cardinal Newman, their Catholic Faith, and their Country as a military family.  The scholarship will be presented each year to a child of a military family (active duty or retired) who participates in athletics and demonstrates an aptitude for studies in the STEM fields.
