Applying to Cardinal Newman is easy!


We are now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 academic school year.

In keeping with its mission as a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Cardinal
Newman School offers priority consideration for admission to student applicants based upon the
following criteria:
Category I: Siblings of current Cardinal Newman students or recent CNS graduates;
Category II: Students currently enrolled in Columbia Catholic Partner Schools or Catholic
School in another city or state;
Category III: Students enrolled in public or private schools who are active members of a
Catholic parish in Columbia or another city;
Category IV: Students enrolled in public or private schools who are not active members of a
Catholic parish.


Rolling Admissions
Cardinal Newman School has adopted a rolling admissions process, whereby
acceptance/non-acceptance letters will be issued according to the Student Applicant Priority
Status deadlines. For student applicants in the following categories, upon submission of a
complete application packet, the student applicant can expect to be notified of their
acceptance/non-acceptance status by the following dates:
Category I Student Applicants: November 22, 2022 or earlier
Category II Student Applicants: November 29, 2022 or earlier
Category III Student Applicants: December 6 or earlier
Category IV Student Applicants: December 13 or earlier

Cardinal Newman School will continue to accept applications from students in all categories
throughout the fall, winter and spring; however, seats will be awarded based upon availability if
applications are received after the above noted deadlines.


Step 1: Application Packet

A complete Admissions Packet will include the following:                                                                                                               

  • Completed Application
  • A copy of the student’s current report card, previous report card, transcript, standardized test scores, and discipline report. 
  • A $85.00 non-refundable application fee must be submitted with the application.


Step 2: Admissions Interview

After receipt of your completed application packet, you will be contacted by the Admissions office to schedule an admissions interview for your student.


Step 3: Offer of Admission

After the applicant’s file is reviewed by the Admissions Committee, if the applicant has been accepted, an official Offer of Admission will be sent.
