Per SCISA directive in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus:

ALL INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FROM SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2020 UNTIL FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2020.


Congratulations to the Men's and Women's Sporting Clays teams for their runner-up finishes at the SCISA state championships, held in conjunction with the Governor's Cup shoot on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14! The men's team was Lukas Kearn, Sean MacMurdo, and Christopher Charlton;  the women's team was Lilly Blalock, Molly Cerra, and Genna Prince. The men's team also took third place overall among school teams, public and private! And special congratulations to Sean MacMurdo and his second-place finish individually, earning a $1500 scholarship!

Interested in trying out for the Cheer Team for the 2020-2021 school year?  Please see the important info below:

April 1 there will be a player and parent meeting at 6 pm in the Gym

May 18-20 from 4-6 pm tryouts will be held in the Auxiliary Gym

May 21 from 6-8pm is the fitting and parent meeting (for those that make the team) in the Auxiliary Gym

Josh Beadle also scores his 1000th career point!

Josh Beadle also scores his 1000th career point! Josh achieved this milestone on January 18, 2020, against Asheville Christian Academy in the Phenom Hoop Report Carmel Christian MLK Showcase in Matthews, NC. This season Josh is averaging 17 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game as a junior. Congratulations to Josh Beadle on scoring his 1000th career point!

Ashlyn Watkins Joins the Ranks of the 1000 Point Club! Ashlyn achieved this milestone on January 21, 2020 against White Knoll. This season Ashlyn is averaging 16.3 points per game, 12.0 rebound points per game, and 3.9 blocks per game as a sophomore. Congratulations to Ashlyn on achieving her 1000th career point!

Members of the Men's and Women's Varsity Basketball Team Participate in a Service Project for Captain's Hope. Members of the Cardinal Newman Men's and Women's Varsity Basketball Team painted bathroom walls at Carver-Lyon Elementary School as a part of the MLK Bash Service Project for Captain's Hope.

Captain’s Hope, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Carey Rich, a former University of South Carolina Men’s Basketball Team standout and current Recreation Superintendent with the city of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. Rich’s goal for creating Captain’s Hope, Inc. is to instill hope and provide inspiration to local youth.
Cardinal Newman Cheerleader Only One from the Midlands to Participate in World Famous London New Year’s Day Parade
Cardinal Newman student athlete and senior cheerleader Makenna Hoover is one of twenty high school cheerleaders from across the state who will be representing Varsity Spirit in the world famous London New Year’s Day Parade. She’s also the ONLY cheerleader from the Midlands to participate.
