Shortly before Christmas break, five Organ Academy students made a journey to Augusta, Ga. to explore four of the city’s pipe organ installations. The students performed study pieces at each location and were tested on their knowledge about pipe organ components learned from Academy curriculum. Pictured below are Gianna, Anastasia, Brandon, Jonah, and Adam at the largest pipe organ in Augusta, First Baptist Church. All five students could have crawled into the largest pipe in this organ with room to spare, but Mr. Cunningham decided it was not a good idea. In the second picture, Gianna performs one of her study pieces at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church while Adam, Jonah, Brandon, and Anastasia await their turn.
We are looking for students with a little or a lot of piano experience who want to try something different. Contact Mr. Cochrane or Mr. Cunningham through Cardinal Newman School.
