Cardinal Newman is excited to announce the hiring of a new Band Director, Ms. Jennie Worley. A native of Greenville SC, Ms. Worley is a graduate of JL Mann High School and completed her Bachelor of Music with emphasis in Music Education at the University of South Carolina. She studied tuba under the direction of Dr. Ronald Davis, Instrumental Education under Dr. Amanda Schlegel and Elementary Education under Dr. Wendy Valerio. She was a member of The Mighty Sound of the Southeast marching band and participated in the UofSC Women’s Chorus. Additionally, she was an active participant in the national music fraternity - Sigma Alpha Iota. She graduated with honors as a Capstone Scholar.
David Cochrane, Director of Music Education for Cardinal Newman adds, “Ms. Worley is a talented musician and educator and is the perfect person to continue the growth and success of our band program. More importantly she will be a huge asset to the larger Cardinal Newman Community.”
Ms. Worley served as a member of the marching band staff at Blythewood High School and Dreher High School, as well as an instructor of music play classes at Tempo Music and Arts. She completed her student teaching placements at Round Top Elementary and Swansea High School. She was a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps for 3 years as a part of the contra section.
