Midlands Gives a Huge Success for Cardinal Newman, and Other Area Catholic Schools

Midlands Gives, the annual day of on-line philanthropic giving put on by Central Carolina Community Foundation, is held annually on the first Tuesday in May. This year, Cardinal Newman set a goal to raise $15,000. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, the goal was not only reached, but exceeded by a considerable amount. Funds raised, plus prizes awarded, resulted in a grand total of $22,240 raised. This will help considerably as we continue to work towards our annual goal for the Newman Fund.

It was a great day for all midlands area Catholic schools, as they collectively raised more than $146,000. Additionally, St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Newman Center at the University of South Carolina raised more than $15,000

Development Officer, Amy Yoho, and the entire Office of Advancement are to be commended for their hard work towards this goal. The strategy they put in place, and subsequent execution of that plan, paid off like never before. This year's total surpasses the totals from any previous year, and is more than double what was raised last year.

The goal of Cardinal Newman's fundraising is to sustain our school both today and in years to come. Support for Cardinal Newman comes in a number of different forms. Gifts to the annual Newman Fund help meet ongoing operating expenses, while capital gifts provide funds to expand and renovate key facilities, to supply more financial aid and to increase support for faculty and programs.

Tuition alone covers only 87% of the actual cost to educate a student. The Newman Fund serves as the only fundraising program specifically designed to bridge that gap. Funds go to support academic endeavors, athletics, technology and extracurricular programs.  Your donations to the Newman Fund give you the ability to have a direct and immediate impact on the educational experience of every student at Cardinal Newman.

Contributions to the Newman Fund are tax-deductible and can be made by cash, check, credit card, or through stock transfers. Pledges can be made and paid in installments. The fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. For more information, you are welcome to contact Mrs. Amy Yoho, our Development Officer at 803-888-1620 or ayoho@cnhs.org.
