As another school year draws to a close we are bidding farewell to one of our amazing faculty members. Dr. Laura Bolchoz will be moving with her family to Greenville, SC where she will join the faculty of St. Joseph’s Catholic School. We wish Dr. Bolchoz all the best and thank her for her years of service at Cardinal Newman, including the last four years chairing the Science Department.
With that said, we are excited to announce our new hire for the position, Mrs. Stephanie Bailey. Mrs. Bailey will join us as the new Science Department Chair/ Biology teacher and brings with her 20 years of experience in the classroom, teaching science at every high school level; from Physical Science to Advanced Placement Biology. Mrs. Bailey is in the process of obtaining her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
Just last year Mrs. Bailey was bestowed the honor of the Hope Teacher for the Center for Education and Equity of African-American Students. In 2017 she was a South Carolina State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and in 2013 she was named Teacher of the Year at Airport High School! We feel very fortunate to have found Mrs. Bailey in our search to fill this position, and we have no doubt she will be an asset to our students and the entire Cardinal Newman family.
