Cardinal Newman would like to congratulate a few of our students for making the All-Region Orchestra. Madeleine Thoma (7th grade), Amanda Spencer (9th grade), and Anastasia Egan (9th grade) have all made history by becoming the first orchestra students here at CN to reach this goal.
All-Region Orchestra is a wonderful opportunity for students to perform with the finest student musicians in the midlands of South Carolina and to perform under the direction of an internationally renowned conductor. The acceptance into these prestigious orchestras, and performing in these events, give students a chance to meet and make new friends around the region/state with similar interests.
All three of these young ladies are accomplished violinists. Madeline Thoma is in the 6-8 region 3; 4th chair out of 18. Amanda Spencer is in the 9-10 Region 3; 15th chair out of 36. And Anastasia Egan is in the 9-10 Region 3; 13th chair out of 36.
To be selected for All-Region Orchestra requires a level of dedication and skill that few possess. With the help and instruction of Dr. Alvoy Bryan Jr, Cardinal Newman’s Orchestra Director, and David Cochrane, Cardinal Newman’s Director of Music, these three young ladies are poised and ready to represent our school at the next level. Later this year, they will have the opportunity to audition for All-State Orchestra. Join us congratulating them on this achievement and wishing them luck in their future endeavors!
