Every year, Cardinal Newman students are earning college credit via AP and dual enrollment course offerings, making commitments to pursue athletics or the arts at the next level, and qualifying for millions of dollars in scholarships and grants.

Student Fees

$85 New Student Application Fee - A one time, per student fee paid upon application.
$250 Enrollment/Re-enrollment Fee - An annual, per student fee paid upon enrollment.
$400 1st student, +$50 per additional student Capital Improvement Fee - An annual fee.
$80 PTO Dues - An annual, per family fee.
$325 Activities - An annual, per student fee that includes entrance fees to all home athletic events, admissions to all performing arts programs, and a yearbook.
$140 Technology - An annual, per student fee.
$200 Senior Fee - A one time, per senior student fee.

FACTS Fees

FACTS is Cardinal Newman's student information system. All admissions, tuition, and financial aid processes use this online system.

$40 FACTS Grant & Aid Application - An annual, per family fee incurred ONLY if a financial aid application is submitted.
FACTS Payment Plan Fees - An annual fee determined by which payment plan a family selects during enrollment.

As part of Cardinal Newman's commitment to providing a quality Catholic education to any student who truly values and desires it, we provide annual financial assistance to families through a variety of options.

Payment Plan Options

Several options exist for the payment of tuition. These include annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly, and bimonthly payments through Cardinal Newman's FACTS Management program.

Education Scholarship Trust Funds (ESTF)

On May 5, 2023, Governor Henry McMaster signed the Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act into law. The ESTF Program is administered by the South Carolina Department of Education and allows qualifying South Carolina families to apply for a scholarship (currently up to $7,500) to be used to create a customized, flexible education for their child. Visit the ESTF website to determine whether your family is eligible, review a list of eligible education expenses, and learn about the application process. Please note that recipients of the ESTF scholarship cannot also be recipients of Exceptional SC Scholarships.

Need-Based Financial Assistance from CN

Cardinal Newman School provides verified, need-based annual financial assistance to qualifying families. To request financial aid, please complete and submit your online application via CN's online portal, FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. Applications are required for each school year and financial aid is not guaranteed at the same amount each year as families’ financial circumstances change from year-to-year. To receive financial aid, the application must be completed in its entirety and verified by FACTS Grant & Aid prior to the school’s review and award of aid.

Scholarship Opportunities through CN's Advancement Office

Through the incredible generosity of our extended Cardinal Newman community, the Advancement Office offers several scholarship opportunities for returning students each year. This year, over $30,000 in scholarship awards is available to support and celebrate our students’ talents, achievements, and potential. Each scholarship has specific application criteria. The Advancement Office communicates to all families in January of each year and meets with each grade level individually to discuss the scholarship opportunities available to them. Exceptional SC Scholarships

Exceptional SC is a 501(c)(3) charity that accepts donations for the purpose of providing scholarships to exceptional needs K-12 students to attend independent educational institutions. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be residents of SC, be eligible to attend a public school, and have a diagnosed disability (autism, deafness and hearing impairment, emotional disability, mental disability, orthopedic, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment). More information is available on the Exceptional SC website. Parents who wish to be considered to receive funds from Exceptional SC Scholarships must apply directly through Exceptional SC (not Cardinal Newman School). Parents who wish to apply for financial assistance in addition to receiving Exceptional SC Scholarship funds must also complete the FACTS Grant & Aid Application through Cardinal Newman School. Please note that recipients of the ESTF scholarship cannot also be recipients of Exceptional SC Scholarships.

Parental Refundable Tax Credits

The Parental Refundable Credit is administered by the South Carolina Department of Revenue and is available for parents or guardians of exceptional needs students who pay the student’s tuition at an eligible school. Visit the SC Department of Revenue's website to learn about the credit cap and when the credit is available. A parent who is eligible for a Parental Refundable Credit, as deemed by the South Carolina Department of Revenue, will receive the credit (funds) according to the South Carolina Department of Revenue’s timeline. The parent may then choose to apply any funds received through their credit to their Cardinal Newman School tuition account. Parents can only receive South Carolina's Parental Refundable Credit for tuition amounts that have already been paid to Cardinal Newman School.

Examples of Financial Assistance

Cardinal Newman makes every effort to help meet the financial needs of all our applicants. When evaluating financial aid applications, we consider the whole family's circumstances. We encourage families to take advantage of the state's ESTF or Exceptional SC financial aid options, in addition to applying for assistance from Cardinal Newman.

Example 1

A young woman's application for financial aid showed a total family income of $67,918, supporting a family of three with one child enrolled in Catholic school, one child enrolled in public school and a single mother receiving child support (included in total family income). This family qualified for ESTF funding for their child enrolled at CNS in the amount of $7500 for the school year. She qualified for an additional $500 in CNS financial aid for a total of $8,000 in financial aid for the school year.

Example 2

Example 3

A family of five has two children in Cardinal Newman School and one child in Catholic elementary school. One parent receives a non-taxable income of $48,000 and the other parent has an adjusted gross income of $70,240. One CNS student will receive $7,000 in financial aid and the other CNS student will receive $6,000 in financial aid for a total of $13,000 in CNS financial aid. However, if their income remains stable, this family is likely to qualify to receive ESTF funding in the amount of $7500 per child for a total of $15,000 for the school year, in which case, they would only receive the ESTF financial aid and no additional or minimal additional CNS financial aid.
