Welcome to Cardinal Newman!

Cardinal Newman School is a private, Catholic, co-educational, college-preparatory school for students in grades 7-12. We are a community that invites students to seek out truth, pursue academic excellence, grow as young women and men of integrity, work for justice, and lead through service to others.  Every one of our young men and women is known by name and they find a place where their God-given talents are developed.

Cardinal Newman School began as Ursuline Academy, which started serving the Columbia community in 1858.  Renamed Cardinal Newman in 1961, our approach remains the same.  We know that every student comes to us through God’s Providence and the value of each one is infinite.

This perspective drives us to care deeply about the full development of each, mind, body and spirit. Students are transformed by the Cardinal Newman experience and they find a home here; one that they will have for life. Middle and high school education is not simply about academic achievements or athletic awards, but about shaping young men and women into faith-filled leaders who will leave our school well-equipped and driven to make a meaningful difference in the world that lies ahead.

Take some time to explore our website.  Read testimonies from teachers, students, and parents. Learn more about the Cardinal Newman experience! If you are looking for a place where you or your child can grow in faith, explore interests, and serve the community, all while preparing for a successful future, this IS the place. We encourage you to come see for yourself!
