Who We Are
Welcome to Cardinal Newman!
Cardinal Newman is a community that invites students to seek out truth, pursue academic excellence, grow as young women and men of integrity, work for justice, and lead through service to others. Every one of our young men and women is known by name and they find a place where their gifts are developed.
The Cardinal Newman approach dates back to our roots in Ursuline Academy, which began serving the Columbia community in 1858. Renamed Cardinal Newman in 1961, our approach remains the same. We know that every student comes to us through God’s Providence and the value of each one is infinite. This perspective drives us to care deeply about the full development of each, mind, body and spirit. Our students are transformed by the Cardinal Newman experience and they find a home here, one that they will have for life.
