Cardinal Newman School will present a sexual abuse prevention program, the Touching Safety program, to our students in Theology classes September 19 and 20, 2007. The timing of this program has been mandated by the Diocese of Charleston.
Any student on these days will experience the program at a later date. The creators of the Protecting God’s Children Program developed the Touching Safety program.
This program is a part of the ongoing effort in our diocese to help create and maintain a safe environment for children and to protect all children from sexual abuse.
The scheduled lesson is being offered to all students at Cardinal Newman School. As a parent, you have the right to choose whether your child participates. We encourage you to read the attached “overview” and “lesson plan” so you’ll be aware of the nature of the Touching Safety program.
If you have questions about the program or the lesson, please contact Tony Haughey at thaughey(a)cnhs.org or 803.782.2814 ext. 38. If you determine that you DO NOT want your child to participate, please complete the “opt-out” form, and return it to the school office no later than August 27, 2007.
