The 2007-2008 School year brings an exciting new way for all Cardinal Newman students to participate in their favorite clubs and activities - Cardinal Newman Skinnies!
Now students can participate in a variety of different clubs and make the meetings part of their school day. Activity calendars will be printed up to two weeks in advance so that students can plan out their days.

The academic quiz bowl teams are a competitive, intellectually challenging group of students who compete against other SCISA schools annually and in the Knowledge Master Open.

Alpha Theta fosters learning more about Jesus Christ and His teachings through motivational speakers and fellowship. The organization is open to all students and teachers.

“The Card Players” gives students both a practical and fun dramatic experience. Drama shows the power of a play as both pleasure and inspiration for the cast, audience, and community.

Members of the French Club meet to further their understanding and knowledge of the French language, foods, customs and culture.

Girls learn lessons and universal skills that are appropriate for young ladies including hair and skin care, make up application, basic automotive care, road safety, sewing, etiquette, and personal safety. Students also perform community service.

Open to students in Grades 9-12
Students will explore the visual arts by experimenting with various mediums and techniques. Studio production, art appreciation, and discussion will be the focus of the program. Students will have the opportunity to work on murals, as well as enter both local and national art contests. Guest artists and field trips may be scheduled. A $10.00 materials fee is required.

The Key Club is a service organization that completes monthly service projects for school or local community. It is part of an international organization that raises money for the poor and downtrodden and is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Columbia.

The Ursuline Hall Art Club provides an opportunity for art related activities outside of the classroom environment and fosters an appreciation for art that benefits the community.

Open to qualified students in Grades 10-12
The purpose of the National Honor Society is “to recognize and encourage academic achievement while also developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy.” The National Honor Society strives to identify students who have a good balance of the four pillars, scholarship, leadership, service, and character and encourage their continued development of these traits. Application for membership is by invitation only and is given to those students with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.8 or higher in courses after the first semester of their sophomore year. Selection is determined by the NHS Faculty Council.

The Photography Club helps to develop an interest in students for photography and teaches students necessary skills through three major projects. They also visit a professional photography studio.

The Pep Club boosts and promotes school spirit by providing opportunities for students to celebrate their fellow student athletes. This club is responsible for planning and implementing all school pep rallies.

The Spanish Club allows students to interact with one another in Spanish culture based activities including BINGO, fiestas, games, puzzles, music and dance.

Student Council promotes leadership development, citizenship training, school spirit, and democratic values to Cardinal Newman. Students are elected to positions and implement all social activities for the year, as well as perform community service projects to benefit the community.

The Writing Club creates a community of writers who enjoy writing both fiction and nonfiction. Students can post poetry on a blog space and also take part in publishing literary journals and a club newspaper.
