ardinal Newman School has held accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 1958.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has recently merged with the North Central Association (NCA) CASI and with the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE). These three organizations are under the parent organization of AdvancED. This unified organization represents 23,000 public and private schools and districts in 30 states and 65 countries, serving close to 15 million students.
Accreditation by SACS involves three major components:
At Cardinal Newman School, we are continually involved in the process of accreditation. Our last quality assurance review was in Spring 2004. During this review, the faculty, parents and students presented their plan for meeting and improving the standards. This action plan became a document that we use as our plan for continual growth and improvement.
Our next review will be in 2009 and it will be preceded by a self-study that will involve members of our entire school community.
